Habitat for Humanity Hamilton and Habitat for Humanity Heartland are partnering with the Six Nations of the Grand River to help bring the Onondaga 1 build to life. Onondaga 1 is an innovative five-unit housing project that aims to provide safe and affordable rental options for families within the Six Nations of the Grand River.

The need for affordable housing on the Six Nations of the Grand River has been steadily growing and is now in very high demand. This initiative is a positive step in addressing that need, by providing options for families who are looking for comfortable and sustainable living spaces, but may face challenges in securing them.  Everyone has the right to safe, secure, quality housing.  Onondaga1 is an important initiative that will have a significant impact on the lives of Six Nations families for many years to come.  Habitat for Humanity has committed to supporting more home build projects in Indigenous communities.  For more information, please visit Habitat for Humanity Canada’s Indigenous Housing Partnership page.

This project was made possible thanks to the support of the Six Nations of the Grand River Economic Development Trust and Indigenous Services Canada.  While the project is already underway, we still need your support to complete the build.  Please view our volunteer opportunities and our donation opportunities if you would like to help.
